Shivapur is a small place in Pune in Maharashtra which is famous for its levitating stone. According to the popular belief Qamar Ali is a famous Sufi Saint and is renowned for its powers. Some eight hundred years ago a gymnasium existed on the spot where the shrine now stands. Two large stones were used by the wrestlers for exercise purposes. Hazrat Qamar Ali Darvesh then proclaimed that the large rock could be raised with just eleven finger tips touching it but only if his name was loudly called. Like wise the smaller rock could be raised by using nine finger tips. From that day onwards the stones could be raised in the prescribed manner only by applying that formula.

Anyone believer or non believer or the member of any faith can partake in levitation ritual. Stories state that over the years many people have tried to remove these stones from the shrine but they have to bear dare consequences. The valley just below the shrine has water spurts from the wall of rock which contains the healing properties and pilgrims take this at home as well. Other than the name of the Sufi saint the stone can not be lifted. This is the miracle that takes place even today as well.
