Also known as Vinayaga Chaturthi, Ganesh Chaturthi is the famous Hindu festival celebrated in each and every household of Maharashtra. For 10 long days from Bhadrapad Shudh Chaturthi to the Ananta Chaturdashi Lord Ganesha is worshipped and on 11th day the statue is taken on the streets in a procession along with dancing, singing and fanfare to be immersed in river or in sea which is known as Ganesh Visarjan. It can be done on 3rd 5th or 7th day as per the family tradition. The whole atmosphere is filled with fun, enthusiasm, faith and devotion and people pray to the Lord for good luck and prosperity.
